John E. Sarno, M.D. graduated from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, in 1950. Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he was a Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine and Attending Physician in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine from 1965 until his retirement in 2012. From 1984 to 2006, Dr. Sarno wrote four books about a variety of pain disorders that he named Tension Myoneural Syndrome (TMS). Although commercially available, the material in his books is solely for informational purposes and should under no circumstances substitute for a diagnosis or treatment by a medical doctor.
